Courses In Judaism

Every day there are more and more people interested in learning about Judaism. This is not a matter of fashion, but because of the potential that the Jewish faith gives to its followers in their lives by belonging to a community interested in advancing its followers and making them good men and women.

Learning about Judaism includes people who belong to other religions, as well as those who are Jewish but have not deepened their knowledge in the faith or potentiated their virtues and abilities with the basic principles of the religion.

At SimChat Torah Beit Midrash we offer Judaism classes ranging from an online introduction to Judaism to spiritual leadership training.

We invite you to read the following article to get an overview of Judaism and the purposes for learning about it and being part of our online Judaism classes.

Judaism

Judaism is considered the first and oldest of the three great monotheistic religions. It is also the religion and way of life of the Jewish people who inhabit Israel and other regions of the world.

The basic laws and principles of Judaism are derived from the Torah, the first five books of the Bible.

The most important teaching and principle of Judaism is that there is only one God, incorporeal and eternal, who desires and wants all men to do what is just and merciful. All people are created in the image and likeness of God and should be treated with dignity and respect.

Why study Judaism?

The most important teaching and principle of Judaism is that there is only one God, incorporeal and eternal, who desires and wants all men to do what is just and merciful. All people are created in the image and likeness of God and should be treated with dignity and respect.

Many people have various reasons for converting to Judaism. Some of them feel or think they need religious meaning in their lives, with or without a connection to a Jewish partner, and simply find that Judaism offers a spiritual and religious place where they feel comfortable to strengthen their spirituality.

For others, having a relationship or marriage to a Jewish person offers them a first opportunity to explore Judaism in the home and family setting. For example, participating in a Shabbat dinner, a Shabbat or holiday service. This is a totally different experience if one comes from a religion other than Judaism.

On the other hand, there are those who study the Torah for intellectual reasons or to make a first approach to the faith in order to carry out their conversation.
